This varies from bitewing x-rays, in which multiple images may need to be taken, prolonging any discomfort you may feel. 

In addition to being a more convenient and pleasant experience than traditional x-rays, panoramic x-rays allow for dentists to more easily identify major dental issues. By having access to an image of your entire head, neck, and jaw, problems such as cancer, tumors, growths, cysts, and jaw abnormalities can be detected early. This early identification is extremely important in maintaining your health, as well as typically resulting in less invasive and expensive treatments.
